Extrait de film : Les Visiteurs (1993), de Jean-Marie Poiré

In this cult classic scene, the knight Godefroy de Montmirail — a man from the Middle Ages suddenly transported into the 20th century — discovers a modern bathroom for the very first time. The result is hilarious.

This scene perfectly illustrates what we explored in the Podcast #31 : Les Français sont-ils sales ? For centuries, bathing was not a natural habit in France. And if it makes us laugh today, it’s because the gap between those two eras is absolutely staggering.
