This is wonderful and a true keeper of a piece! As one who's frequently called upon to order for the table, I'm happy to have these idiomatic expressions in my pocket.

Also, merci beaucoup for recommending me to your readers! True fact: My ancestor Pierre Piché emigrated to Canada from the Loire in the mid-1600s, from a town called Faye-la-Vineuse — yes, "Faye of the Vines." His family name means "pitcher," or "jug." So it's really no wonder I found my way into wine. Tchin tchin ! 🥂

This is so helpful Timo as later this week I am on my way to Nice for a few days. I shall have to see how much of your lesson I can work into my 5 days.

But I already have a “worst wine” story for you - not that it was bad but it was my fault for making a bad choice : faced with a massive selection of wines in a Parisian supermarché and knowing my companion preferred white, I chose a bottle that was medium priced whose name was not familiar to me but TBF neither were many of the others.

I duly presented it to my friend when I got back to our apartment where she had laid out the pâté, cheese and bread we had purchased for our supper and we sat down to enjoy our evening. Until the first sip of wine that was - it was SWEET!
